2016 “Chasing Spring” Raw Pu-erh Tea

This is a second review of the tea since I first tried it 5 years ago with a sample, for a comparison.
I have a whole tea-cake and this second review is using that tea cake now that it has had a decade in aging period.

Brief (5-10 seconds) steeps in 90 Celsius water. 

Liquor is a clear dark amber in hue. 

Taste is slightly woody and somewhat fruity-floral at the same time. 

Flavor is quite unusual for a raw puerh, as there is no herbal nor stone-fruit-like in character with a very mild astringency and no hint of bitterness detected. 

The aftertaste does has some sweetness but more of a woody-sugary note. 

Mouthfeel is slightly dry and sticky, encouraging salivation. 

Wet leaves are bronzed olive green in color, giving off an aroma similar to light brown sugar. 

This tea withstands many infusions with relatively consistent in taste throughout.
Strength of infusion starts to mellow down by the 6th/7th steep, thus a longer infusion is recommended by the 7th steep onwards.
A 1-minute or more steep gives a slightly darker color hue and a bolder flavor that leans more on a woody side with an additional astringency level, though still low.

Overall, it is an every day sheng puerh that will be good as an introduction to raw puerh type of tea, as a transition to a much bolder and herbal type of sheng puerh.

This sheng was one of the samples I ordered from TS.
Dry leaves smell contains fruit notes, early morning flowers fragrance, sweet aroma.
Brewed liquor is rich gold color, with a smooth and mouth refreshing taste. Notes of berries, There is no astringency or bitterness noticeable, at least with a short flushes which I prefer for sheng Pu'er.

Very pleasant to drink and you could expect at least 10-12 steepings of rich and aromatic liquor. Great for afternoon tea sessions.

The one sheng I can drink in copious amount at one sitting, just like the way I drink oolong.
Slightly fruity, slightly floral, a low amount of astringency, with a sweet after taste and aroma.
Wet leaves smell woody and brunt caramel-like.
This is certainly different from most sheng puerhs I've tasted, as it doesn't feel like I'm drinking sheng puerh at all. I want more.

one of the most irregular teas from tea-side, and they have plenty unique teas!

This one really has a STRONG Oolong taste!
I know processing makes a huge difference, but I've never thought I'd drink a puer that tastes like an Oolong !
I'm almost tempted to buy a cake just to see how it'll age..

other then the tastem, the mouthfeel is nice and there are enough steeps..
