This Hong Tai Chang sheng is of the same year (2006) and crafted by the same master as our popular 0802 and 0803 cakes. We've known about this tea since 2015 and even offered it for a short time, but then have switched completely to 0802 since the flavors of 0801 and 0802 were very similar back then, with the 0802 recipe seeming more interesting. However, the 0801 has developed a unique, vibrant character over time, and we believe it deserves a place alongside its siblings.

Currently, the 0801 delights with notes of apples, apricots, raisins, dried meadow herbs, honey and some dairy tones.Sheng 0802 has about the same mix of dried fruits notes, but with an accent on aromatic woods - sandalwood and teak, which is not less pleasing.

The main tune of 0801 is meadow herbs honey, with some hints of DFMR. Such a peculiar flavor for an old sheng. It wasn’t noticeable in 2015, but now it's become a staple. It is this melody that prompted us to offer you this pu-erh again.Chilled, the infusion releases a distinct aroma of buckwheat honey, tree bark and a bouquet of aromatic herbs - St. John's wort, thyme, meadowsweet. Everyone will recognize something familiar from their herbal experience.

There is not a hint of basement, fungi or mold in this sheng–the purest storage. It is easy and soft to drink, as well as other pu-erhs of this line. Long aftertaste fills throat with honey-herbaceous flavors.

The state after drinking this sheng is light, it’s Qi is not too heady. But what is most appreciable about 0801 is the tea satiety and satisfaction it delivers. The feeling of having experienced exactly the right amount of tea, with no desire to taste any more.

In our conclusion, the multifaceted profile, intelligence and noble flavor of this pu-erh are able to surpass many renowned and costly Chinese teas. The years have not dimmed its taste, but, on the contrary, made it even brighter and more beautiful. That's what you get applying old-school sha qing processing to an old trees material.

The tea is mild and pleasant to drink and storage is clean, but I didn't get the depth of flavor that I am looking for in a sheng of this age.
The flavor seemed quite fruity (plums, raisins), some caramel, a bit of camphor, a bit of spices. The flavor profile reminds me of a black tea (hong cha).

Woody, herbal/spicy and very very clean storage. Every pu I try from TEASIDE is very clean. Went through many steeps without dropping fast. Great calming energy which is more important to me than any flavors in the world.
Thank you so much for a nice session.
